Every year I make the same New Year's Eve Resolutions along with everyone else. And by mid January they are forgotten. So, I've decided instead of making a new year's resolution I would make monthly goals. Goals that are achievable, and then reward myself at the end of the month.

For January one of my goals was to start writing on my blog again. :)

New Items

Well, I thought is was about time I came up with some new items.

This first one is a Mod Blooms Corduroy Dress. This would look super cute with brown tights and fuchsia shoes. I can also see this layered with a fuchsia long sleeve tee and jeans with some cute boots. Something alittle fun to brighten the wardrobe.

These next new items are Long Sleeve Tee Dresses.
These are available in 4 different styles.

Awhile back we talked about doing "holiday" tie tops well, here is one of them.

Anna tried this on with a white long sleeve tee and jeans and its soo cute. Now your probably saying this doesn't scream holiday or have Christmas trees on it. The traditional holiday tie tops are coming but, I love this one because it can be worn all year round. You may know by now I am under ALOT of pressure right now. But, honestly I work better when I am under the wire. I'm not sure why, if its just the rush or the need to make everything perfect. The spring line is under way. And the holiday fabrics are getting shipped this week. Yes, I said this week and I need to have ohhh 5 outfits ready to show on Saturday. So, just alittle pressure.

I guess its good I LOVE my job.

What a day....

Awhile back I had told you about how I would like to grow my company and expand to stores. Well, I had a very big decision to make this week. I have an opportunity to attend a trade show NEXT month and had teetered both ways. I always have the feeling of what if I go and I fail. Am I really ready for the next step. I think that is what has stopped me before.

So I am heading my fears face to face and attending the Trade show next month!!! I am nervous, excited, scared and oh I have to put together a small holiday line and spring line in like 2 weeks! YIKES!! So needless to say I need to get my butt in the game.

Organization is a Key

ingredient to keeping a Happy Family sane on a busy school morning. This summer I did alittle research on what is the best way to organize the kids school papers. I thought I would share what has helped me.

I wanted a place to showcase the kids art work. So I went to Michaels purchased 2 medium sized cork boards and hung them in our mudroom/office. I love that Blake and Anna have their own cork board and they are soo proud the show off their school work.

Another great thing I found were these file systems that can hang on the wall. They have 3 slots. So when the kids come home from school they place the papers that the teachers gave them in the middle. I put any papers that need to go back to school in the front slot. This is also a place that the kids can put library books. Because you know the morning they are due back I can NEVER find them! I also had a note pad in the slot with a pen but, it seems my mini me stole that.

Now, What do you do with those special papers you want to keep record of. Well, here is another great tip from another mom.

She purchases a 3 ring binder for each child. Gets dividers and page protectors. Marks each divider by the month and places the papers that they did that month in the page protectors. One thing I am going to add to this is in the beginning of the notebook I am going to have a paper for "getting to know me" and have questions like....

What is your fav. color?

What is your fav. t.v. show?

What is your fav. food?

And then at the end of the year do the same paper and see how there answers have changed or haven't changed.

And last my new work area .

I bought a wood desk off of craigslist, painted it choc. brown and added my favorite fabric collection to the drawers. Added new drawer pulls and purchased a really cool cork board from Marshall's. Now I have a creative place to do all of my mom/wife duties and all of my work papers are all organized.

{anna's first day of school}

Kids had there first week of school. Its been alittle crazy getting back into the old schedule. But, I am looking forward to tomorrow, for the first full day of "me", as my husband lovingly calls it. I am going to visit some girly boutiques, that I don't like taking the kids with me to, a lunch date with a girlfriend to catch up and stopping by this great coffee shop that has to die for mocha's. No, I usually don't have days like this while the kids are in school. My day is mostly filled with Laundry, cleaning, sewing, Laundry, dishes, prepping for dinner Oh and some more laundry! I do sneak in one soap, young and the restless. And no bon bon's for me I am usually folding laundry while watching it. Yes, I do do alot of laundry. It seems like its never ending!!

I know I said I was going to open the etsy store on Wed. but, I am pushing back the date. I want to finish some orders I had gotten from the show this past weekend and inventory the stock I have left. I will open sometime next week along with some great "Grand Opening" specials!!

So, I thought next week I would give some tips on how to organize your children's school papers. I know I always have a ton of papers collecting in various spots around the house. If anyone else wants to share their tips too that would be great!!

bitter sweet

As I get the house and the kids prepared for back to school I have been feeling a little bitter sweet. On one side I am very excited to have them go but, oh how I will miss them when they are in school. I know alot of you mom's know what I am saying. My youngest is starting kindergarten and its just sooo hard for me to let her go. I am so glad that I spent more time with them this summer and not behind the sewing machine, like I have done in past summers. I would of missed out on so much. So, as we brace for the last holiday weekend of the summer I just wanted to say ...

Stop and smell the roses. Take time to play alittle catch with the kids, the dishes will be there when you come inside. Believe me if there was a dishwasher fairy I would of hired one!

And if your in Michigan its my last outdoor show of the season.

That's all that came to my head when Anna tried on the new skirt I made her for the First day of school. I was going to save this until I could get my photographer to take better photos but, I couldn't help but share. She looks so grown up and sooo adorable. I must say my favorite part of the outfit is the cute knee highs!! I bought her a pair in all the colors available at children's place.

Anna did request one more thing for school... Its a backpack in the same fabric! Which could be possible. We will have to see. I have my last big art show of the season this weekend and I just don't know if I can get it all done in time for school next Tuesday.

With getting everything in order with the name change I forgot to do alittle website maintance work. So, the website will be down for a day or so till we can work out all the kinks. Good news though I have been working on a limited edition skirt line for fall. And I will have some leg warmers to go with them, very, very limited! Hopefully I can get some pics up in the next week or so. I was going to call it the "Eastland" collection but, my husband kindly said isn't that name taken by a shoe company and doesn't the 'facts of life' have rights to the name too? So, I am back at the drawing board for the name of the collection.

Lets talk about...

The ruffle tank top dresses!! Oh how I love these. There airy, flowy, easy to wear and to care for, and the girls look adorable in them!!

How can they be worn? There are countless ways.

She loves to be worn with flip flops or sandals.

Looks super cute with leggings and mary janes or ballet flats.

But, please don't tuck her away when the weather gets cooler instead layer her with a long sleeve top, jeans or our ruffled pants.

And the most important feature she grows with your little one.

A great example of this is the little girl in this photo is wearing a 12month size and it still fits her as a top!!

By the way this cupcake one would be so cute for the first birthday photos and then put it on her every year after that showing how shes grown!

So, let me tell you about her ...

She has elastic around top and 1/4 way down. She has ties at the top that can be adjusted to the length you would like it.

She is available in 3 sizes, small, medium, and large. And will last at least 2-3 years and if you have 2 daughters she would loved to be shared.

I designed her to be longer, tunic length, so it will grow with your child.

She is season less and loves to be layered in the cooler months with the ruffled tee and pants but, also likes to go solo and worn with shorts, leggings or capri's in the warmer months.

She is a top that you wont have to tuck away when the seasons change!!!

Introduction to a new piece

In our Grow with me Collection.

This has been a goal of mine since the start of my business.

You may remember the first design to the "grow with me" Collection.

While they are one of my best sellers, I knew that they needed a little improving on the design. Plus, they are very costly to make. It took almost 3 months to improve this design and I think I came up with a solution.

How the design came to me is something I will never forget. My daughter had a Doctors appointment and when we have special days like this I like her to be dressed nicely. The problem was she had grown. So all her pants were to short. I thought to myself why isn't there a cuff on these pants to length them. They fit her great everywhere else, it was just the length.

So, after the doctors appointment I came home took the short pants and experimented.

This is the fun part for me but, at times can be very FRUSTRATING!! After many trial pairs and girlfriends test running them on there little ones we have a WINNER!!

Hello, My name is Karin, and I am obsessed. At least that is what my husband Say's I am. Well, I must confess yes, since I decided to go ahead with the name change I have been living, breathing, sleeping or I should say not sleeping, my business. I had no idea what an undertaking this would be but, in the end I am sooo glad I did it.

So, I have been asked why the name change?

Well, that's simple. When I came up with my business name I was making handbags and it was called "K Bella" so, when I started designing children's clothing I just added "bambino" to the name. I designed mostly girly items so, the name fit really well. And now that I have defined my style and have included boys items I felt that I need to change the name.

What kind of clothing are we going to offer?

The same items you have seen in the past but, with a focus on clothing that can be worn for more then one season and grows with your child.

He got to roll the dough, put the yummy homemade pizza sauce on and toppings galore. He was so proud of his pizza he made for him, anna and I and it was soooTASTY. Maybe he'll be a chef when he grows up. I know I would love that!

Well, we are in the process of changing things around here at KBella's. I guess you can say we are at the point of adding the toppings to our pizza.lol. I think we will be ready for the smooth transition by the end of the week. And have the big reveal for everyone. OH and dare I sale a grand opening sale!!

Summer Fun

Swimming, homemade Popsicles, sprinklers, water balloon fights, swim lessons, swinging with there friends, "Mom, Blake's bothering me", "Mom, Anna took my Game", watering our garden, salads for dinner, visiting our farmers market, enjoying every minute of the summer with the kids. This has been the last 3 weeks in our house. When the kids are in school I do miss the noise they bring to make our house a home.

There are some exciting things in store for us. You will see some changes coming to our online boutique and our esty shop. When its all ready I will announce the big reveal date.

I dont think I told you for Mother's day my husband bought me something I have wanted for the longest time. A Pocket Digital Video Camera. I just love this thing! I took it to Anna's recital, I took it to our Fall line photo shoot. It fits perfectly in my pocket and Its Hot Pink, need I say more. I will be posting some video footage of the BIG CHANGES that is coming for K Bella in the next few weeks. We all are very excited about this new adventure and want to include you.

Good Ship Lollipop

Oh how cute the girls looked on this special day. I signed Anna up for dance lessons this year and the recital was Saturday. She dance to 'good ship lollipop' and she did a great job. I was alittle scared that she wouldn't like being on stage and it was the opposite, she said she LOVED being on stage!! I thought I would share a few pictures from that day.

Since I started this business this has been something I have been struggling with. When is the right time to work? When should I clean my house? Oh and let's not forget the KIDS!! The whole reason why I stay at home. When the kids are in school its easy. I do most of it when they are there but, summer starts next week!! What am I to do. I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. I am back from MSU and drying out. Oh yeah, It rained most of Saturday but, really nice weather on Sunday. Our next show will be Clothesline June 20 in East Grand Rapids. Come check out what is new and get a really big sneak peek at the fall line!! Thank you!! Thank You!! To everyone who came and visited Danielle and I in Holland!! We had fantastic weather and had a great time chatting and seeing how the children have grown in the past year. Since I have started this venture in my life its had its ups and its downs, mostly ups, but, attending these shows make me see why I love doing what I do.

I guess its kinda selfish but, I just love seeing the girls go crazy over my clothing and the best part is seeing them in my designs all Happy and Giddy.

I had the pleasure of meeting this sweet little girl on Sunday. Her mom had bought her one of my tops for her on Saturday and Sunday she came and showed me. Absolutely adorable!!

Sweets for the Sweets

This past week I bought the cutest little stand. You are suppose to use it to display your colored eggs in for Easter but, I had another idea...

Mini cupcakes.

So, Anna and I had a baking day. We made mini chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting and some Sweet Pink sprinkles. I forgot to take pics while we were making them but, look how cute they look in the stand, and sooo YUMMY too!!

After taking the picture it made me think of the cutest art work I saw on Etsy by Jenny of Jennysbakeshop.

I Love this plaque in her shop. And since its pink I love it even more. But, don't worry she has it available in many colors .

Oh How they have grown.

Where has the time gone? Friends told me that the grow in a blink of an eye and boy isn't that the truth. I had the pleasure during spring break to have my children's photos taken by the Talented photographer, Stacey Clack. We took a the kids downtown for the photos. I just love how they turned out. Every time I look at them I cant believe these are my babies, my inspirations.

Anna is wearing one of the new pieces, I have been promising to share. I love, love how this looks. Its a fuchsia halter top that ties on the shoulder and zebra ruffle capri's. She wore the halter the other day with a long sleeve tee and jeans and it looks just as adorable. More previews tomorrow. I went to take more pics and my son decided to make a poster for his wwe wrestling event out of my big white foam core board. So, more still to come.

To my Dear Friend Gina, of Peahead Prints!!! She made me my new logo, that I absolutely adore and made my new blog header, esty banner, business card, hang tag and has redone my website!!!! She is fantastic and a genius!! I told her the look I wanted and boy did she deliver. My favorite part is the crown, anyone who knows me personally says this matches my personality to a T, oh and my daughter too!! We Are Back!!!

Ahhh. I nice little getaway during Spring Break. We took the kids to Frakenmuth. If you live in Michigan its also known as the Christmas town, with the worlds largest Christmas store and the place of the world famous chicken dinners. We shopped, swam, played inside mini golf, and spent some, much needed, Fun Time with the kids. I wish we could of stayed longer.

We have finally been blessed with some warm weather. I am hoping to get some photos of the NEW Summer Items tomorrow. Including something for Mommy. Yeah. So check back this weekend for another Sneak Peek...

Working Smarter NOT Harder...

That is my new motto. I have been diligently preparing for spring and its taken a lot longer then I had anticipated. There will be a new way of life around here. On my etsy shop and my web boutique everything will be "READY TO SHIP". This is where the working smarter not harder comes in. I feel this is better for you, the customer, and for me and my family. I will be cutting down on special orders, as well. Show season is approaching fast and I have to build my inventory for that, as well. Its a wonder I have time to sleep.lol.

CPSIA UPDATE

I am so excited to announce that the Commission has voted for a "Stay of Enforcement of Certain Testing and Certification Requirements of CPSIA". What does this mean. Well, they are taking a year to work out the kinks in the law. Most likely it will come down to componet testing, which is a more affordable method of testing. And I already have testing results from the manufactures I use -which state the items I create are lead free and safe for children AND adults.

How the CPSIA will affect you

I Have have written many posts regarding the CPSIA and how it will affect me but, what about you?

To the Parents of Young Students:Due to the new law, expect to see the cost of school supplies sky rocket. While those paper clips weren't originally intended for your student to use, they will need to be tested now that your 11-year-old needs them for his school project. This law applies to any and all school supplies (textbooks, pencils, crayons, paper, etc.) being used by children under 12.

To the Avid Reader:Due to the new law, all children's books will be pulled from library and school shelves, as there is no exemption for them. That’s okay though, there's always television. Our children don’t need to learn the love of reading after all.Article from the American Library Association http://www.wo.ala.org/districtdispatch/?p=1322

To the Lover of All Things Handmade:Due to the new law, you will now be given a cotton ball and an instruction manual so you can make it yourself since that blanket you originally had your eye on for $50 will now cost you around $1,000 after it's passed testing. It won't even be the one-of-a-kind blanket you were hoping for. Items are destroyed in the testing process making one-of-a-kind items virtually impossible. So that gorgeous hand-knit hat you bought your child this past winter won’t be available next winter.

To the Environmentalist:Due to the new law, all items in non-compliance will now be dumped into our already overflowing landfills. Imagine not just products from the small business owners, but the Big Box Stores as well. You can't sell it so you must toss it. Or be potentially sued for selling it. You can't even give them away. If you are caught, it is still a violation.

To the Second-Hand Shopper:Due to the new law, you will now need to spend $20 for that brand new pair of jeans for your 2-year old, rather than shop at the Goodwill for second hand. Many resale shops are eliminating children's items all together to avoid future lawsuits.

To the Entrepreneur:Due to this new law, you will be forced to adhere to strict testing of your unique products or discontinue to make and/or sell them. Small businesses will be likely to be unable to afford the cost of testing and be forced to close up shop. Due to the current economic state, you'll have to hope for the best when it comes to finding a new job in Corporate America.

To the Antique Toy Collector:Due to the new law, you'd better start buying now because it's all going to private collection and will no longer be available to purchase. “Because the new rules apply retroactively, toys and clothes already on the shelf will have to be thrown out if they aren't certified as safe.” http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123189645948879745.html

To the American Economy:Already struggling under an economy that hasn’t been this weak in decades, the American economy will be hit harder with the inevitable loss of jobs and revenues from suppliers, small businesses and consumers. The required testing is far too costly and restrictive for small businesses or individuals to undertake.

To the Worldwide Economy:Due to this new law, many foreign manufacturers have already pulled out of the US market. You can imagine the impact of this on their businesses. If you think this is exaggerating, here is a recent article from

Now I can not stress this enough, the reason for the new law was due to the tainted toys from CHINA during the Holidays in 2007. This is why the HANDMADE revolution started, to keep our kids safe! But, when the CPSC wrote this law they included everything under the sun.

So, as I am triing to figure out how I am going to stay open I thought I would share the new "pricing" courtesy of the CPSIA.

I am going to take 3 items from my fall/winter collection and take it step by step on how much it would cost me to have tested. AND NOTE THAT ALL THREE ITEMS HAVE THE SAME FABRICS, FROM THE SAME BOLT, JUST USED DIFFERENTLY.

Dear Chairmen Rockefeller and Pryor:

I write regarding the implementation of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) and concerns that have been brought to my attention by a number of Michigan companies. Based on the large number of news organizations reporting on this Issue, I suspect you have also been hearing from companies in your states and other states expressing similar concerns.

We all agree that it is of the utmost importance to protect our children's health and safety by banning lead and phtbalates from children's products, as demonstrated by the widespread support in Congress of H.R. 4040. Given the current lack of resources at the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), however, I sun concerned that the effort to protect our children from dangerous substances has had some unintended consequences including harming small companies that that Act was not aimed at in the first place. Let me give you a few examples from my state of Michigan.

One example is a small Ann Arbor company making "organic" handcrafted wooden toys. Although their products are made of wood, which contains no lead or plastic, and are coated with food grade bee's wax, this company has had to shut down production because they can't afford to test every product as the Act apparently requires. To date they have received no guidance from CPSC telling them their products would be exempt from the testing requirements. Although CPSC indicates it is working to exempt from testing products made from uncoated wood and certain other products that clearly contain no lead, guidance coming from the CPSC has not been issued in a timely manner and has often been uncIear. For instance, it is unclear as to whether food grade coating on wood products would be exempt. I have also been informed that even if a wood coating such as a varnish is tested and found to be lead free, all children's products coated in that varnish must still be tested. Although the CPSC tells us it hopes to build a case to argue that one-time testing of coating materials should be sufficient, it is uncertain what the outcome of those efforts will be or how much time this will take. In the meantime companies have to assume everything must be tested and many have shut down production and laid-off workers because they cannot afford the testing.

A second example is the CPSC guidance given to thrift and consignment stores. Several consignment shop owners have told me they find this guidance unhelpful. Although CPSC determined that resellers are not required to test children's products in their inventory for compliance with lead limits, if they sell a product with lead they are subject to fines and penalties. These shop owners say it would cost several hundred dollars to test each product individually. As a result thrift and consignment store owners are uncertain about how to proceed and many fear they will be unable to sell some or much of their inventory.

At a time when the President and Congress are working to take all possible steps to create jobs we are facing a situation where the unintended consequences of well intentioned legislation has resulted in the ofjobs. I hope you will take an urgent look at what might be done to mediate these job losses while continuing to protect children's health. This could be done through hearings or by providing the CPSC with the resources and direction needed to allow them to issue guidance in a more clear, rational and timely manner.

Thank you for your consideration of this request. Michigan is suffering from the highest unemployment in the nation and I want to avoid expenses which are not commonsensical.

KEEPING POSITIVE

The one thing I have learned with the business is NOT to over react. With this new law tapping at my feet, what am I to do? Learn as much as I can about the new policies and FIGHT for what I believe in. I am getting asked if I am closing and well, not yet. I'm not clearing out the new designs I have invested my hard earned AMERICAN dollars in, just to give in. I have signed the petitions, contacted who I need to contact, and keeping faith that something will change.

Anyways, from what I have read I am at least compliant until Aug, 2009. This is when 3rd party testing is mandatory. I have the proper papers from my fabric manufactures stating the fabrics I use have been tested and DO NOT have lead in them. So please know you are purchasing SAFE items.

Good News: they are hearing us and have started exempting a few items like cotton and wool that haven't been dyed. So that leaves us with a plain vanilla life. Lets just say its a start and Keep Positive!!

I will keep you updated when I hear more.

Wondering what I have planned for SPRING? Well, some designs can be viewed in my etsy store. I have designed these collections to have coordinating pieces. I have had alot of requests in the past for big sister, little sister outfits and that was my inspiration. I also like that once you purchase 1 piece in that collection you can add on and Mix and Match other designs.

How you can help with CPSIA

Alot of you are reading this for the first time and wondering what the heck is CPSIA?

In 2007, large toy manufacturers who outsource their production to China and other developing countries violated the public's trust. They were selling toys with dangerously high lead content, toys with unsafe small part, toys with improperly secured and easily swallowed small magnets, and toys made from chemicals that made kids sick. Almost every problem toy in 2007 was made in China.

The United States Congress rightly recognized that the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) lacked the authority and staffing to prevent dangerous toys from being imported into the US. So, they passed the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) in August, 2008.

Among other things, the CPSIA bans lead and phthalates in toys, mandates third-party testing and certification for all toys and requires toy makers to permanently label each toy with a date and batch number. All of these changes will be fairly easy for large, multinational toy manufacturers to comply with. Large manufacturers who make thousands of units of each toy have very little incremental cost to pay for testing and update their molds to include batch labels.
For small American, Canadian, and European toymakers and manufacturers of children's products, however, the costs of mandatory testing will likely drive them out of business.

*A toymaker, for example, who makes wooden cars in his garage in Maine to supplement his income cannot afford the $4,000 fee per toy that testing labs are charging to assure compliance with the CPSIA.
*A work at home mom in Minnesota who makes cloth diapers to sell online must choose either to violate the law or cease operations.
*A small toy retailer in Vermont who imports wooden toys from Europe, which has long had stringent toy safety standards, must now pay for testing on every toy they import.
*And even the handful of larger toy makers who still employ workers in the United States face increased costs to comply with the CPSIA, even though American-made toys had nothing to do with the toy safety problems of 2007.

The CPSIA simply forgot to exclude the class of children's goods that have earned and kept the public's trust: Toys, clothes, and accessories made in the US, Canada, and Europe. The result, unless the law is modified, is that handmade children's products will no longer be legal in the US. If this law had been applied to the food industry, every farmers market in the country would be forced to close while Kraft and Dole prospered.

Now I ask you to take 5 min of your day and help. I have a voice and you do to. The more voices they hear the better. Remember KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!

It seems when I try to get ahead of things, something always happens. Well, last night while sewing spring/summer stock my serger quit on me. I took it in this morning and they told me a 2 week waiting period. So, what am I to do. I guess hold things off alittle. Just so you know I wont be sewing anything new or be able to fill any new orders until my machine is back and running. Unless it is an item/s already in stock and ready to ship.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

I Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays. We have been enjoying some snowy weather the past few days. I love the beauty that comes with snow. The kids have been having a riot outside as well.

I actually accomplished something I have wanting to do for a long time. . . Remodel my sewing space. Its so nice to have everything organized and in its own space. When you've been sewing for 6 months straight, with little time to organize, you can see how this can take sometime. I wish I would of took photo of before and after but, all I have is the after.

This first pic is of my designing, order placement and shipping table. I am on the look out for a old wood desk with drawers to make over. But, this plastic table will do the job for now.

Starting on the left is Molly, the mannequin. And Molly is sporting a new design for spring.

Then behind Molly are the 4 fabric covered cork boards. This is So I have a nice place to pin important notes and new design sketches. Next is The nice shelf unit, that I put up myself, with my new Pink Electric screwdriver. Yes, pink. Don't you know everything doesn't seem like work when you have it in pink?!? Anyways, On the top shelf is the first fabric that I purchased. Of course its Amy Butler. She has been a huge inspiration to me. I started sewing again just to use her beautiful fabrics.

Now, on to the sewing center. Where all you little pretties get created.

Yes, the walls in my sewing room are Pink. So, don't adjust your screen. And the cool butterfly on the wall is from Amy Butler. I won it on a blog. I thought this was the perfect place to put it.

So that is what I have been doing.

I will be sharing with you the new spring designs. I cant wait to show you.

Whats new

I just got in this new line of fabric, Andalucia, by Patty Young. It is beautiful. I couldn't wait to make a little skirt out of the fabric. I was saving this fabric line for spring but, thought the bright colors would be a good transition collection from winter to spring. Especially when its gets around January and you need a little pop of color to make you smile. This skirt will do that.

Wondering whats coming for Spring? Well, so far I have 2 new collections that will be released after the first of the year. The first collection is "Anna's garden" and the second is "Happy Girl". There will be 3 new designs added to the collections as well. I already have spring fever and its only November! Oh, well it will be here soon enough.

I have talked in the past about making this business a success. And lets face it I cant do it all. Right?!? There are very talented people that can do things better then I can. I knew I had to make my designs captured alot better then what I can do. They say a picture is worth a thousand words well, they are correct. My friend Danielle, of Danibags, introduced me to her friend Tina, who is a photographer. Lets just say Tina and her sweet models have brought life to my designs.

I can sew the dresses but, when they are placed on a model and photographed professional its a "wow" factor. Tina was a pleasure to work with, found wonderful spots to take the photos in and captured the designs perfectly!! Thank You Tina for all you have done. You are truly Talented!!

Festive Holiday Wear

This has got to be the first time in my life that I've started Christmas shopping before Thanksgiving. I guess its all the holiday music that has gotten me in the mood. Plus, there have been great sales. Have you seen our new Festive Holiday skirts? They are super cute.

Vacation....

I just wanted to let you know that we wont be shipping any items purchased Oct 29 - Nov 7. Both boutique will remain open for purchasing items but, nothing will be shipped until we get back. Wondering where were heading? Florida, the land of mickey and minnie. But, we wont be going to Disney this year. We are going to Sea World. We have never been there and I think the kids will really enjoy it, I know I will. When I get back home there are some great things instore. I cant wait to tell you all about how we are growing. Its Friday all ready? I have been so busy sewing for the show this weekend. before I get to the winners I wanted to share a few new items I added this week. My inspiration was a sweater of Anna's.

It has three button on the top bodice and bell sleeves. The "WOW" factor to this jacket is the gathering that goes all around the jacket. Its light weight and can be worn as a cardigan. I wanted something that Anna could throw on with a pair of jeans and instantly dress it up and still be Sweet and Sassy in it. Its machine washable and season less. I hope you like it as much as Anna does. After the show this weekend more colorways are coming in this.

Attacked by a squirrel and extending bloggy giveaway

So I told you on Sunday we were going to Norte Dame with the kids and do a little shopping and walk around the campus. It was a beautiful day. After shopping in the book store we wanted to walk to the "golden dome". On the way there I stopped, put down my drink and bag to take this photo. My husband and the kids are ahead of me. So after I took the photo my husband says "look down"

And to my surprise this little squirrel was right next to me. Now, I didn't zoom in the lens, that is just how close it really was. And it came closer then that, I had to move because I was scared it was going to bite me. I don't think in all my life I have been that close to these little guys.

It was a fun day with the Family. We are hoping that Blake and Anna will want to come here for college. Matter in fact Blake wants to be a Norte Dame football player for Halloween.

What a weekend..

daisy chain grow with me pants

We had such a great weekend with the kids. We started with a bang and had 2 great soccer matches. In which Blake won his game and Anna's team well, did their best. After the game the kids and I headed to a local farmers market and bought some great Fall harvest decorations. Photo's are sure to come. Then my son lost another tooth. So, for losing the tooth we took the kids to go see Beverly Hills Chihuahua. That movie was great!! I would highly recommend it. Its so cute. And I am a sucker for little doggies that you can dress up. And Sunday, we just hung out as a family. It was kinda nice not having to run anywhere.

Did I mention that I've been doing alittle sewing. Well, I've been a busy little bee. I promised some new Grow with me pants. Well here is a new pair. Made with my favorite fabric designer in the whole world, Amy Bulter. I feel I should have a drum roll or roll a red carpet out when I say her name. These are so stinkin' cute I can't stand it. Anna wore them all weekend. They've already been washed 2 times in the three days they've been made. So she must like them. They feature a cute side pocket in a coordinating print and a top is sure to follow to match them. Just haven't gotten that far yet. They will be available in my store's this weekend. I want to make a complete set for you.

In my quest to build my business I had some fabulous new photos from a very talented photographer done . Tina was nice enough to photograph some new designs for me with some of her models. I cant wait to show them to you. They are super cute! Oh and the new designs skirts, pants, ruffles upon ruffles, and some new dress and they will all be ready to ship in all sizes. Dream alittle Dream

When I was a teenager my favorite thing to do was to plan my future. It may have changed from time to time but, it always had a few key factors.

1. I wanted to be a wife and have a big lavish wedding. I wanted to marry my bestfriend.

Checked accomplished. I have a wonderful, caring husband that is my bestfriend and I seem to love him more and more each day. Its amazing how we meet, a freak accident but, that's a story Ill save for later. We will be celebrating a big milestone soon... 10 years of marriage.

2. I wanted a great career and wanted to still work when I had the 2.5 kids.

Well, not really a great career I worked in a stock brokerage co. it was OK but, very stressful. And well for working when I had the 2.5 kids....

3. Have 2 amazing children. First a boy then a girl. So if the little girl every got heart broken the big brother could kick his butt. lol.

Check accomplished. I have a boy how is 7 and a girl that is 5. But, when I found out that I was pregnant I knew I wanted to stay home. My husband works very long hours (usually 9am-10pm on 3-4 days a week) so I wanted one of us to be here with them. I am very Lucky I can do this and enjoy, most of the time, staying home with them.

4. This big career I wanted well, it was to be a fashion designer. But, not in Grand Rapids, Michigan I wanted to go to the fashion capital- New York baby!!

Well, kinda checked I do design clothing but, only in Grand Rapids, Michigan and I still haven't been to New York. Someday.

Today I was going through our Sunday press and skimming the ads, like I do every Sunday

and something caught my eye. It was a picture frame of a quote. It said.

"Itll costs nothing to Dream & everything not to."

(btw I am buying this for my kitchen.)

So, it made me think what are my dreams now???

1. To have healthy, striving kids. Give them the life I couldn't have. Help them plan for the future and to never forget the past.

I could go on what I want for my kids but, I would just bore you. So, as Blake would say

"moving on."

2. Now its time for me. What dreams do I personally want to accomplish.

Making K Bella Bambino the best that it can be.

But, how far do I want this to go? Am I happy with just being on etsy? Yes, I am I love it there but, sometimes I want more.

But, the question is how much more??? That is something I struggle with everyday.

I have been asked if I make a living at what I do? And the answer to that question is..

This, right now just supports my fabric addiction, lol, and the company makes enough to pay for its self. which my husband Loves.

So, I am going to ponder these questions to myself for a while but, here's one for you.

What are your dreams? Goals?

This maybe a little off the path I usually write about but, sometimes we need a little inspiration.

Where did I go??

Well, my daughter is another year older. I wish I could just make these young years last a lifetime. How I miss the baby years. I DON'T miss the midnight feedings but, I miss that baby smell, those tiny hands, and the cuddling.
We are on week 3 of school and I miss them so much. Thank goodness I have had orders to fill my time with or I think I might be in the nut house. We have been so busy after school with dance for Anna and they both are now playing on a soccer team. It is so much fun watching theses little guys play and they are having a ton of fun!

Of course Anna being the girlie girl she is has to have everything pink. Including a pink soccer ball and she had to wear her barbie tee. I will have to get better action photos of Blake playing they didn't turn out as well.

Today we stopped by a girlfriend of mine that I went to school with. She has a daughter that is year old. And so we had an impromptu photo shoot. As you can see Ella is having a ball. She looks so cute. And Anna decided to take a view photos also. Today was a perfect day for the shrug. Its was a little cooler in the morning and then by the afternoon she took it off. And with the knot dress she wore her pink capri length leggings sooo cute.
Are you wondering where the new items are??? Well, they are in the cutting stage right now. They should be ready to preview by the weekend. I wanted to get my orders all done and work from a clean slate. Oh did I say holiday wear is coming too. Oh yeah the sock monkey outfit is back from retirement so please check him out too. But, I am also happy to report that the rest of the GROW WITH ME line will be arriving at the same time. With some exciting, new fabric. This was a very popular line for us last winter season. Knit or not to Knit that is the question

I have been admiring this fabric from afar. I would glance at it in fabric stores and say "just not yet". All my sewing friends said "its not so hard. Just try it". So a few months ago I bought some and it just sat in my sewing room staring at me saying "Please use me." After I made my daughter a twirl top we were out one morning and it was kinda chilly she just needed something to cover her arms and shoulder until it got warmer in the afternoon. So out came the knit. And honestly its not hard its fun. And the best thing is my daughter loves her little shrug and she looks so adorable in it. The knit has now became a love affair. These are available in my etsy store and will soon be added to my boutique. Tell me something else you would like to see coming in the fall-winter months.

First day of school

Waiting for the bus.

August just flew by for me. I blinked and it was time for the kids to go to school. Its the first year for my son to go to school all day, everyday and my daughter will be going to school 2 full days and 1 half. I have mixed feelings about this new chapter in our life. I am excited for the kids and what they will be experiencing this year but, sad for me. I miss them so much. Yesterday they both where in school and I just kept waiting for the Mom, I need a snack. But, all I heard was silence. I am so glad that I have my business to keep my mine off them being gone. They grow so quickly.

In the past few days I have added some new items to my etsy store. Even though they aren't your traditional spring colors this will brighten up your little one.

This twirl top is perfect for the girls who don't love to wear dresses but, love to twirl AKA my daughter. Anna loves this top she wears it with jeans and shorts and looks soo adorable.

The ruffled Farmers Market tee and twirl skirt are just to too cute. Great addition to the fall wardrobe and can be worn into the spring again!

Sweet Memories

Sorry I haven't written in awhile. I have been busy spending much needed time with my two, growing to quickly, kids.

You know summer is coming to an end when all the county fairs are here. Two weeks ago we went to the Hudsonville fair and spent the day riding fun fair rides and eating junk food. My parents own concession wagons and they were at the fair too. Blake took time out from the rides and helped Grandpa in the wagon. Oh he loves it there. I can remember many of summers while I was in college serving those drinks and slinging those dogs. I sometimes help out now but, its alot harder with kids and the business. The one think I dont miss is the smell when you leave. You stink like grease. Yuck!

My Mom does make the best corndogs in the world! As you can see Anna loves them too.
And you cant go to a Fair without having your face painted. Anna wanted to be a kitty. Meow. Soo adorable.

We are back from the Holland art in the park. It was a beautful day. I enjoyed meeting and talking to all of my customers. I had such a wounderful response to the start of the new fall collection. The new knot twirl dresses were a big hit. These and some other new items are now in stock in my boutque. Some items are limited quanitity so get them while you can! There are still a few more items in the works to be released in the next few weeks. So keep checking back!

Next weekend is our next show in South Haven for Blueberry festival. its a Saturday/Sunday show. So if you missed us in Holland come visit us in South Haven.

Well, I'm back from a little R&R. So What did I do...

I did alittle sewing, alot of playing with the kiddos, and triing out some new projects for the holiday season. I have listed some new items for back to school on etsy . And since I was so inspired by all your comments I started making some new things for summer that may be brought into the fall line. This new number is the Morgan halter and the cute maddie ruffle capris. And the best part of this is the Halter and capris are on sale right now for $34.00. Thats a steal.

So I made a matching A-line skirt for mommy. And see the clip on the tank for mommy. It doubles as a hair clip for daughter! Too cute!
